Nowadays education is as important as ever. Without a high school degree, students are not able to further their education. Despite the fact that education is something that is encouraged, not everyone is able to graduate high school due to family situations, busy schedules, and many other reasons. Believe it or not there are people who can be successful without earning a high school diploma. Here are 15 celebrities who have made it big but never got the chance to walk the stage.

   Abraham Lincoln One of nine presidents who didn't go to college, Lincoln attended various schools in rural Kentucky and Illinois for short periods of time -- he once claimed that of all his schooling probably didn't amount to one year in total. He began to teach himself English grammar at age 23, and he said that he always regretted not receiving a more formal education.


  Michael Faraday, who revolutionized the understanding of electricity and was one of the most influential scientists of all time, was born in a poor family in industrial London and had no formal education. Due to the fact that his parents did not have enough money to pay for proper school, Michael Faraday started working as assistant at the local book-binder for seven years. During the time, he started reading books that he was binding and fulfilled his knowledge. Finding his fascination in science, Michael Faraday asked for being an assistant job of the London's best scientist, Humphrey Davy. Humphrey declined due to lack of scientific experience or education. He gained the job in the following year. Later, Michael Faraday invented the electric motor, the Bunsen burner, the electric generator and electrolysis and electroplating.



    Thomas Edison, Multimillionaire inventor of the phonograph, light bulb, and many other inventions. He quit formal schooling after his teacher called him addled. Was home-schooled by his mother.


,   billionaire founder of Ford Motor Company. Received only a modest rural education. Left his home on the farm to work as an apprentice machinist in Detroit, Michigan. Later ran a sawmill and became a chief engineer for Edison Illuminating Company before starting the Ford Motor Company.


  John D. Rockefeller Sr., billionaire founder of Standard Oil, philanthropist. History’s first recorded billionaire. Dropped out of high school two months before graduation. Took some courses at a local business school.


  George Washington, U.S. president, general, plantation owner. Ended his education after a few years of elementary school. Of the 43 people who served as president of the United States, 8 never went to college.


  Benjamin Franklin, inventor, scientist, inventor, diplomat, author, printer, publisher, politician, patriot, signer of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Dropped out of Boston Latin. Home schooled with less than two years of formal education.


  Winston Churchill, British prime minister, historian, artist. Rebellious by nature, he generally did poorly in school. Flunked sixth grade. After he left Harrow, he applied to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, but it took him three times before he passed the entrance exam. He graduated 8th out of a class of 150 a year and a half later. He never attended college.


,  U.S. president - Teddy Roosevelt, WhoAttended school only for a few months. Was tutored at home. Teddy eventually graduated from Harvard University but he did not complete his law degree at Columbia University.
